Jakarta: Indonesia’s National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) provided cash assistance and scholarships to 163 victims of terrorism throughout 2025 as part of its efforts to support survivor recovery and welfare.
BNPT Head Eddy Hartono said the assistance demonstrates the government’s commitment to standing with victims of terrorism.
“The assistance reflects the state’s presence alongside victims as they recover from the impact of terrorist acts,” Hartono said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He explained that the aid was distributed through the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) or in collaboration with companies, including state-owned enterprises, through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
Hartono said the support was particularly crucial for victims who suffered permanent injuries and require long-term medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Beyond financial assistance, BNPT has also fulfilled victims’ rights by identifying survivors of past terrorist attacks across 12 provinces. As part of this process, the agency issued 80 Terrorism Victim Status certificates in accordance with Constitutional Court Decision No. 103.
Under the ruling, the deadline for victims of past terrorism cases to apply for compensation was extended from five years to 10 years.
“We have been given the opportunity to re-identify victims who have not yet received rehabilitation support. This data collection process is ongoing,” Hartono said.
BNPT reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the protection and recovery of terrorism survivors through five strategic pillars. These include meeting the Constitutional Court’s 2028 deadline for victim identification, digitalizing victim service and data collection systems, strengthening medical and psychosocial service networks, improving the quality of psychological support, and collaborating with stakeholders to establish national standards for terrorism victim recovery services.
